TORCH STUDIOS, HURST, BERKS
We opened our new Hurst Studio in late 2009 due to the demand of many artists and bands asking us where they could find somewhere to record together for a reasonable price. The philosophy of our studios is to some degree a throwback to the days when bands could set up together in a comfortable environment and actually capture performances, as opposed to the sterile piece by piece process that pervades most studios these days.
The studio is situated in the countryside just outside Hurst village, near Wokingham, Berkshire. You will find little distraction there, yet we are only 5 minutes from the town of Wokingham, and 10 minutes from Bracknell.
Our spacious, daylight lit live area is capable of accommodating up to 7 or 8 musicians playing together at the same time. There is also an isolation room to assist in obtaining a good degree of separation during takes. The natural acoustic of the main room can be used to obtain an open, live ambience (great for drum sounds), yet is controlled enough to allow plenty of mix control ‘after the event’. The room also boasts a Boyd of London Baby Grand Piano.
Although we like to encourage a slightly more organic and ‘feel’ approach, the large control room features plenty of the old and new, including the state of the art 96k Genex converters and Cubase v5 recording software, as well as classic mic pre amps, valve compressors and outboard effects by Trident, Raindirk, Drawmer, Lexicon etc. Mixing console is a 26 input TAC Matchless, with monitoring by PMC and Yamaha NS10. Otari Radar 1 24 track is also available on request, at no extra charge.
Final mixdown and / or mastering can all be done in situ of course, or at our Ascot studio facility, where we can offer you options that will enable you to stretch your budget even further.

Prices are from £185 per 10 hour day including engineer. Block booking rates are available on request.
